The Apple Watch already has several health monitoring functions, e.g. B. a heart rate monitor and an EKG monitor. However, if you believe a recent DigiTimes report, Apple could prepare to launch a new health monitoring feature, the Apple Watch Series 6.
With the Series 6, the report claims that Apple could introduce a blood oxygen monitor. If you're wondering why this sounds familiar, earlier this year it was reported that there was evidence in the iOS 14 code that monitoring blood oxygen could actually be an upcoming Apple Watch feature.
Monitoring blood oxygen is not exactly new for smartwatches either, as some other companies have introduced them to their wearables in the past. For those of you wondering what a blood oxygen meter does, it basically monitors your blood oxygen level. If it falls below 80%, it can be a sign that something is wrong.
This could also be a sign that you may have impaired heart or brain functionality. Hopefully, while it shouldn't be used as a diagnostic tool, these warnings will tell users at least something they may not have noticed themselves and will seek medical help that could save their lives.
